It is commonly acknowledged in the auto repair business that it is beeter to use Denso or NGK O2 sensors on Japanese cars. But once I replaced my friend's 98 Toyota Avalon bank 1 sensor 2 with a Bosch sensor for we could not get a Denso or NGK at an Advance Auto Parts store. Now for more than a year it has been working well, and no trouble code on the sensor.
As to universal O2 sensors, I simply mean those you have to use the old plugs/connectors and splice the wires. On two ocasions I used on Nissans Quest and one acasion on Toyota Camry they did not work, code coming back after awhile. Changing to OE style sensors(with plugs fit to the original sockects) the codes did not come back. However, one of my friends used an universal one on his Honda Civic, it is OK. And another one on a Mazda Protege, it worked too.
