These cars were modeled exactly to the blueprints and reference photos of the actual cars. The models of the cars are named correctly in the video. The shadows were fomed with a directional light raytraced with 10 iterations and angle/positionwere calculated from HDRI images of the actual scene. The reference images were taken on the day of shooting and light anglees calculated with algorithms in boijou. The shadow also encompasses a mr_amb_shader to create a ambient occlusion pass to ensure the radiosity of the polygons would interact as it would in the real world. The shadows were then composited in the shot and color matched to match the actual shadows in the scene. Dont't believe me? compare the shadows of the cars to the real shadows present on the left side of the shot. The color and opacity and even sharpness detail was matched accurately. Let me stress again the pinpoint accuracy of the models of the cars. The only problems (which you failed to point out) were the slippage of the track because of the motion blur and the shrinkage of the ambient occlusion matte alpha due to a render error.
