Stopping or Parking On the Freeway

You may never park on an interstate freeway except in an emergency where you cannot drive your vehicle to the nearest exit ramp. When this happens, you must park on the shoulder. It is illegal to stop or park in a traffic lane on any highway outside a business or residential district.
