5 Sent to Hospital After Crash: MyFoxHOUSTON.com
HOUSTON - Police say a red light runner may have been responsible for the crash that sent five people to the hospital on Saturday morning.
The crash occurred before dawn at Polk and Dowling in the east end.
Police say a BMW with four people inside was speeding when it broadsided a woman driving a Dodge Caliber.
The crash was so powerful, it sent the BMW’s engine into the street.
Police are looking into whether alcohol was involved.
The impact of the crash caused the BMW to bounce off a tree and hit a building. The four passengers in the BMW, two women and two men, were taken to the hospital. Two were in serious condition.
Police said the female driver of the Caliber was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be cut out by authorities. She was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
