- Have engine oil changed
- Leave less gasoline in the tank, and add gasoline stabilizer according to its instruction. You can buy gasoline stabilizer at Wal-Mart, Target or any Auto part stores.
- Inflate Tires to maximum allowed pressure such as 44psi. Check the numbers on tire wall. Usually Tire pressure loss is about 1 psi per month. So it'll be 44-12=32 psi after one year. That won't damage the tire due to low tire pressure.
- If the car is in a garage, connect float charger to battery if possible. That will keep battery charged and in good condition.
When you take the car out of storage:
- Take battery out and recharge it first if it's not connected to float charger.
- Inflate tires to the normal pressure.
- Have the engine oil changed again.
Note if you don't use the float battery charger, it's likely the battery will be dead after one year and all the setting of your car will be gone. You have to re-set them, at least for clock & radio, etc. Some cars need password/PIN before you can set them.
