It's similar priced to Civic DX. You can get it at $15k(before TTL) for base mode including automatic transmission. The base mode is well equipped in this class.
Pros:
It has more standard safety features such as 8 airbags, ABS assistanted brake, ESC and TCS. More audio features: CD/XM radio/Ipod/Aux/USB connection. It's pretty roomy. In fact it's close to midsize car inside. It can carry more cargo as well since it's a hatchback/wagon. Not to mention it has longer warranty.
It's over 200lb heavier than Civic so it's less fuel efficient. On the other hand, having a heavier car is your advantage in case of collision w/ another car if you follow the heavy discussion on car safety in this forum.
Cons:
Only 4-speed automatic
Ride is a bit rough
Lower resale value as it's a Hyundai if you don't intend to keep it for many years.
