I think 99% of gas nozzles in NY are broken (every single gas stations I have visited)... and I am not sure about other states...

Another interesting story: If you have a NJ license plate and pull into a gas station in PA (near border), and if you don't come out immediately, they will come out and serve you. The gas man said to me: "I see you have a NJ plate... and most of cars from NJ will just stay in there forever if I don't come out...".
