How to buy a car from private party - Documents check list

1). Always check with seller's car title to see if it was matching the registered name. Ask for seller ID to see if she or he is the car owner.
2). Buying a car with a lien on it is OK but with good faith, another word is ON YOUR OWN RISE. ( She or he can't get the title to sell the car to you unless she or he gets the funds. Deal directly with the title holder or it could turn into a horrible story very quickly.)
3). Take overpayment should be avoid unless it can be transferred over to you by finance companies.
4). Take the car to smoke check stations to see if it is passing before making the transaction. ( Even though with current registered license plate)
5). Title belonging to company names should be avoid unless you are willing to pay SALES TAX to DMV.( Some seller claim private owner.)
6). Check with the car true market price by going to http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/used/index.html

Re: Obtain the VIN and check with Carfax to see the vehicle's history is always a good idea. If you have any concern or need further assistance, please don't hesitates to contact the car forum’s host of Biglow.
