If a manufacturer purposely remove parts from a group of cars while they are still functioning and working properly and use them for repairs of other cars, do you assume that there is any need for refurbishing rather than recycling these as is? In comparison, BMW recycles only 5% of its parts only when certain defects are found and they have to been completely refurbished before getting into the repair shops. The only explanation that can be drawn here is why the Japanese parts are cheaper is because apparently more used parts are being circulated in their cars.
