fristly, full-time 4WD is better than AWD, which doen't have 4-low. so full-time 4WD performs much better off-road, than AWD does.
secondly, full-time 4WD is not necessarily better than part-time 4WD, since for off-road ability, full-time 4WD performs exactly the same as part-time 4WD, the only difference is the former is automatic, the latter would be manual, and of course, much cheaper.
and lastly, also most importantly! "locking center differential" is not that good as you imagined, at least not that good under any circumstances. because it only provides more torque, not more traction. so that meams, it is good in mud, ditch, or any similar situation, while it is NOT good in snow, ice, water, or any similar slippery situation.
here is the link that you can take a look.
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/all-other-vehicles/63413-locking-center-differential.html
so for your specific case, full-time 4WD does NOT have any advantages. well, if you want spend more money and also get more convenience, then you go for it.
good luck!
not much different, do NOT waste money if you are not very rich
