My first car was a Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (1987 -1990), one of the big GM cars. Bought used with 60k miles. The quality of the parts were horrible, I spend so much money on fixing lots of parts, example: Motor mount 3 times, radiator leak, transmission rebuilt, water pump replaced 2 times, coolant tank replaced, replaced tail-pipe 2 or 3 times... Junked at 100k miles when radiator had problem again.
2nd car - Camry: (1991-2002, 185K miles), only replaced timing belt 2 times (scheduled maintenance).
3rd car - Camry (1997 - 2010, 215k miles). Replaced timing belt 2 times (scheduled maintenance), replaced oxygen sensor.
4th car - Toyota Sianna (2002 - now, 120k), Replaced timing belt 2 times (scheduled maintenance). replaced oxygen sensor.
5th car - Acura TSX (2010 - now). If you want to talk about safety, do some homework, this car beats Volvo S40.
What you paid is what you get, try to compare the same price range car, same size cars. You can't compare a $15K Toyota Corolla with a $40K Volvo S80.
That's not true.
