Driving safety has two parts.
The Car and the driver.
The article covers the first half very well, but missed the second entirely.
Look at the most dangerous cars. They target two groups of buyers.
1. Two door muscle cars for performance lovers
2. Entry level cars for new and/or low income drivers
Look at the safest cars. They also target other two groups of buyers.
1. The luxury models for the rich and famous
2. The family vehicles for responsible family persons
Now the exercise:
If you switch the drivers between the groups, that is
Let muscle car drivers to drive luxury sedans
Let new and/or low income drivers to family cars
Let the rich and famous to drive entry level cars
Let the family persons to drive muscle cars
Would the safest cars become the most dangeous cars and vise versa?
When you see statistics, think before accepting it.
