Head-on collision injures one, blocks roadway in Palm Springs

A woman was hospitalized tonight following a head-on collision tonight between two vehicles at the intersection of Crossley Road and Dinah Shore Drive in Palm Springs.

The collision was reported shortly before 9 p.m. and involved a Ford Taurus and a Toyota Camry.

The Ford was turning south onto Crossley from westbound Dinah Shore when it failed to yield to on-coming traffic, Palm Springs Police Officer A. Donovan said.

The Ford collided with the eastbound Toyota, injuring its female driver.

She was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment to her neck and back.

Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, and the Ford's driver was cited for failing to yield to traffic, Donovan said.

Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage.

Police shut down several lanes while they investigated.

The scene was expected to be cleared by 10 p.m.
