Watching the "sudden acceleration" problem Toyota has, I was worried about my car as well. Our family has 4 nissan cars. However, I just feel relief from today's Wall Street Journal.
So good news to Nissan, Chrysler, BMW, and DaimlerAG car owners! because these cars have a "Brake-Override System".
The system will cut of a car's throttle if the driver hits the gas and brake at the same time. So unwanted acceleration can be overriden by brake.
Hyundai will equip all cars with this feature by the end of this month.
GM offers this on its high performance cars, such as ZR1, Camero SS and 4-C Malibu.
Ford is emplying this technology on Fiesta subcompact and plan to implement this feature on other vehicles. But a timetable hasn't been disclosed.
To Nissan, Chrysler, BMW, Daimler AG car owners
