Your info is quite outdated. Double clutch is already in M3 (but most die hard still loves 6-speed).

550 has been 360HP for a long while. the 5 GT is twin turbo V8 for 400 HP.

BMW is always one the the best in engine business. Don't forget "motor" is in their name. At their start, you just put a box on a engine and chassis, the car just sold by itself.
