Hey, dude, if you like history that much, why don't you go back more years rather than only a quarter of century? Before WWII, BMW was only a bike maker while Audi was making excellent racing cars? The point is: we are talking about cars currently on market; more specifically those made in this century.
While timing chains are certainly better than timing belts, there are many more innovations in Audi than in Bimmer. Talking about cheap, I don't know if there is a more proper word to describe the Spartan design of BMW's interior.
Here is your homework: are following two statements truth or just my "subjective" opinion?
1. Audi outsold BMW in Germany, UK and many other European country.
2. Last month (July, 2009), Audi was the largest luxury car seller in U.S.
