A yeas after landing, I got my G2 license, and I bought my first used car.
It was Honda Accord, 11 years old, dark blue, with air conditioner, sun roof, and cruise control. The owner was a Frech guy, the car was priced for $5,000, I said $4,500, then he said he would give it to me for $4,000 because " you are a pretty Chinese lady". I felt I was so lucky and bought a "good car from a good Frech guy".
I was totally wrong.
In the year I owned the car, it went to dead twice on the road, I changed the timing belt, transmission, buffer, four tires. The air conditioner lost tis function in 2 months, and of course, I scratched the door while parking underground. Anyway, after spends thousands of dollars that year, I sold the car fo $1,400. much more expressive than taking taxis.
After searching the cars with a Chinese student who knew cars. I was thinking to buy a off lease Acura, but before I drove the car home, one of the airbag signal kept on all the time, and one of the front lights was not working, so I drove the car back and got my brand new Acura EL. It was a nice car.
I had several small accidents, I kissed on somebody's tails twice at Tim Horton, because I gorget my foot was on brake, but I was let go by those nice ladies because there were no damage. The third time, was on my previous parking lot, somebody parked the car on a "NO Parking" area, and I backed into the car (at 1100pm without street light). there was a small scratch mark on the car, and I broke my back light too. I thought I had to pay them, big time. As I lived in a town house, I started knocking the door, one by one, eventually found the owner, a black lady. She said her car was a brand new car. She would give me the bill after the assessement.
Painful waiting, a week later, she gave me a bill, $184, so cheap? She told me she did not over charge me because she appreciated my honest after the accident.
The damage on my car, I called my hu*****and ( we were dating at that time), he bought the light from Acura and changed by himself, you can not even see the damage.
I thought I was very good at driving, but I was not. Have you ever been shouted by somebody, like " where did you get your license". I did. But I am much better now, thanks to my hu*****and's constant training, he wants me to drive like a Limo driver. And he tought me how to fix small problems too. Next time, you need to check your air filter or air conditioner filter, I can do it.
Last year, we went to Osoyoos, we rent a car and drove from Vancover, he drove on highway, and let me drove on freeway in the mountains, it was a very good experience. Nice view, nice driving. and of course, nice company.
