The only difference between Valet Key and standard key is that the Valet Key can not open the glove box. The Valet Key can be used for the valet parking (let someone to drive your car), and leave your valuables in the glove box safely.

Most of new cars have a security chip built-in, and it can only be made at dealers. If there is no chip in your keys, anyone can make duplicate keys, even at Walmart for a few dollars.
