Maybe our definition of 4x4 is different

Thanks a lot for your explanation. I guess
we have a different definition for 4x4.

My current understanding is

-----------------------------------------------------------------
As long as the engine can send torque to all 4 wheels
simultaneously, it is called 4x4. So, Wrangler,
Range Rover, Land Cruiser, RAV4, CRV are all 4x4
Vehicle.

With in 4x4, there are several different versions

Part Time 4x4 System
Has two speed transfer case
No center differential
Provides 4 modes
Neutral
2WD, usually rear end 2WD
4H
4L
4H/4L not good for on road
Example: Wrangler Command-Trac

Full Time 4x4 System
Has two speed transfer case
Has Center differential
Provides 4 modes
Neutral
4AllTime (center differential unlocked)
4H (center-differential locked)
4L (center-differentail locked)
4 All time is good for on road
4H/4L not good for on road
Example: Wrangler Select-Trac,
Grand Cherokee Quadra-Trac/Quadra-Drive

All Wheel Drive System
No two speed transfter case
Has Center Differentail
Provides 2 modes
Neutral
4AllTime (center-differential unlocked)
4All time is good for on road
Example: RAV4, CRV
-------------------------------------------------

According what I heard from you, it seems you only treat
Part Time 4x4 system as "THE 4x4", and other system
as the "FAKE 4x4".

Is that what you mean?
