Gas Filter

You may replace this gas filter (fuel filter). The cost is about $10 (parts from AutoZone), and labor may be $30-60, depending on the charge from shops.

If you need pump the gap padel to keep the engine on, it may be due to the gas filter. I had the same experience with a Nissan car.
