If the repair cost is more than the market value (buy from dealer), the car will be "totaled". The insurance company will take the car and send you a check. Sometimes you can buy the car back if you really like it. My first car is a similar case. I don't think you can insist the insurance company repair your car. Just take the check and buy another one. It's time to try some car different.
