A great used family SUV: Lexus LX470

bought a 2000 lexus LX470 with 95k miles, really love it, here are some of my thoughts to share with you in case you want to give it a try

Pros: air ride suspension is very nice, don't feel a thing going over potholes. very comfortable and smooth ride, especially on highway. very quiet, great sound insulation. powerful and very affective electronic aided brake system; all material, leather, wood, vinyl, paint, are top quality, everything is tight, clean almost like new, amazing for 10 yrs old. 3 row seats all pretty comfortable, overall size is not too big, indeed smaller than Minivan except taller.

my favorite on top of above usual things: height control, adjustable suspension stiffness, illumated ash tray, very nice wood grain steering wheel. Have not had chance to test out all the fancy 4wd feature yet, will take it to some off road comaping trips in early summer to find out.

Cons: 6800 lbs, 15mpg, politcally incorrect, slow accelaration, not that responsive and nimble, not enough cup holders, storage compartment space is limited, no 110V outlet, no steering wheel audio control, politically incorrect

I also have a daily commute: SIENNA XLE, which is more family friendly and easier to operate, but the LX ride quality is a lot better, plus the 4wd, it will be a great truck weekend and road trips for the whole family.

Before I made this final selection,I have tested quite a few A/4wd,3rd seat SUVs , MDX, Volvo XC90, lexus GX, LX, 4runner, sequoia, Montero limited, vera cruz...MDX and Vera Cruz are both great, but handeling not too much difference than Sienna for its car based chassi, GX is also great but still after testing LX, thats it!...finally after test out 4, 5 LXs I picked this one from a dealer.....$16.5K OTD!
