J-walk ticket in LA, anyway to waive it?

I just got my first ticket and it's a walking ticket. :-(
I just moved to LA and working in downtown. This morning I walked from metro station to office and ran throught a cross street when the walk light just turned from green to flashing red. Cop stopped me and gave me a ticket. I didn't even know they gave ticket to people who walking. Actually I saw the cop before I cross, but I didn't even pay attention to it.
Anyway I can do about this ticket?
