most newer automatic models prevent from picking up key without shifting to PARKING.
I am doing:
1. stop car to the location; 2. keep braking and shift gear to N;
3. stop engine; 4. shift to PARK; 5. turn and pickup the key; 6.lock the all doors with the key in hand.
