John用了had，而James 用了had had。had had更讓老師滿意。

加標點符號就明白了：

如果以分號為界限把句子分為兩句（一個複合句+一個簡單句），那麽十一個had的語法作用依次是：1.複合句從句謂語助動詞，2.複合句從句謂語動詞，3.動詞用作複合句從句賓語名詞，4.複合句主句助動詞，5.複合句主句動詞，（6.助動詞+7.動詞）用作複合句主句賓語名詞，（8.助動詞+9.動詞）用作簡單句主語名詞，10.簡單句謂語助動詞，11.簡單句謂語動詞。
