沈從文，來自農村，愛打扮，狂追他的女學生張兆和。張拒絕，沈從文向胡適哭訴。適逢張兆和也來找胡適投訴禽獸老師。胡適勸道：他頑固的愛你。張回答：我頑固的不愛他。隨後沈從文以自殺相脅，張兆和遂屈服，嫁於沈從文。不久，沈從文出軌，又頑固的愛上了女詩人高青青…
