《涼州詞(1)二首·其一 》

王之渙

 

黃河遠上(2)白雲間，一片孤城萬仞(3)山。

羌笛(4)何須(5)怨楊柳，春風不度(6)玉門關(7)。

 

1.  涼州詞：唐樂府曲名。本詩是詩人為流行曲《涼州詞》配的唱詞。該曲子發端於當時的西北重鎮涼州（今甘肅武威）。

2.  遠上；遠遠望去。

3.  仞：古代的長度單位，一仞相當於周尺7尺或8尺。周尺1尺約合23厘米。

4.  羌笛：分布於西北的古羌族的一種管樂器。

5.  何須：何必。

6.  度：到達、到過。

7.  玉門關：故址在今甘肅敦煌西北小方盤城,是古代通往西域的要道。

黃河遠上白雲間，

1. The Yellow River fades way up into white clouds,

2. Yellow River flows up to white clouds in sky;

3. The yellow sand uprises as high as white cloud,

 

一片孤城萬仞山。

1. A speck of a lone town amidst soaring peaks.

2. A lonely fort’s low houses in the mountains lie.

3.The lonely town is lost amid the mountains proud.

 

羌笛何須怨楊柳，

1. The Qiang flute need not blame the willows,

2. Why should the Qiang’s flute play the Willow Tine in woe?

3. Why should the Mongol flute complain no willows grow?

 

春風不度玉門關。

1. For the spring breeze doesn’t cross Yumen Pass.

2. O’er Jade Gate Pass spring wind has never cared to blow.

3. Beyond the Gate of Jade spring wind will never blow!
