我們部門有十來個人,分別來自四大洲的九個國家:貝寧, 加拿大,中國,剛果,法國,摩洛哥,尼日爾,突尼斯和委內瑞拉。
There are about ten people in my department. We came from nine countries of four continents: Benin, Canada, China, Congo, France, Morocco, Niger, Tunisia, and Venezuela.
今天中午,我們大家聚餐來交流飲食文化,品嚐各國美食。先看看我準備的菜單:
Today we had a potluck to enjoy traditional dishes from different countries. This was the menu:
開始是兩種沙拉,然後有五道主菜,兩種甜點,水果拚盤。飲料是薄荷茶和果汁。
We started with two kinds of salads, then five main dishes, two kinds of desserts. Also there was a fruit plate, mint tea and juice.
這道是摩洛哥傳統的塔吉鍋牛肉,真是色香味俱佳。
Tajine beef is a traditional morocco dish. It is not only delicious, but also very well presented.
這道也是摩洛哥的特色菜:pastilla 。 它是裏麵是海鮮的一種餡餅。

這道烤羊肉也很美味。上麵的裝飾簡單又好看。
Grilled lamb is very tender. Look at the pretty decoration.
還有非洲的烤雞和炸芭蕉。

我帶的是蝦炒飯。

Quesillo 是委內瑞拉的傳統甜點。口感細滑,不膩,很好吃。
Quesillo is a traditional Venezuelan dessert. It tastes smooth and light. Yami!
這是布列塔尼西梅蛋糕。布列塔尼位於法國的西北部,曾是一個獨立的國家,有自己的語言和服飾。布列塔尼的傳統語言是布列塔尼語,但是這種語言現在麵臨消亡。
This is Far Breton. Breton is in the north west of France. It was a country long time ago. It has its own language and culture. The language is now facing extinction.
美食一道接一道,大家吃得好開心。最後,再吃點水果,喝點薄荷茶,聊聊天。
One nice dish after another, we had such a good time. At the end, we chatted while enjoying fruit, mint tea and juice.
和不同背景的人聊天是件有趣的事,因為我總是能學到新的知識:曆史,地理,文化或宗教。接觸的人越多,我越覺得世界很大,人與人是多麽得不同。我們這些人從世界各地聚到一起也是很難道的。最難得的是我們彼此尊重,和諧相處。
It is so much fun to talk with people from different background. I am learning something new each time. The more I get to know different people, the more I realize how different people can be. What is the odd that we all came to Canada and working in the same office? It is really nice that we all respect each other’s culture and religion and work together in harmony.
