健康膽固醇平衡的四大支柱

The Four Pillars of Healthy Cholesterol Balance

Pillar 1 - Anti-Inflammatory Diet

  • Minimize sugar and processed grains
Limit your intake of refined carbohydrates (sugar).
  • Avoid hydrogenated fats
Eliminate your intake of margarine and partially hydrogenated oils.
  • Reduce saturated fat and salt
We pay a significant price for our consumption of burgers, fries, and high fat snacks (ice cream, pastries, etc.).
  • Eat 8 to 10 or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day
This is one of the easiest and most well known ways to avoid cardiovascular disease, but less than 10% of the population does it.
  • Reduce your intake of animal protein
The warrior pioneers of integrative medicine and cardiology, T. Colin Campbell, PhD, Dean Ornish, MD, Caldwell Esselstyn, MD, Stephen Sinatra, MD and Nathan Pritikin, have made it abundantly clear that heart disease can be prevented and reversed by limiting our intake of meat.
  • Increase your intake of soluble fiber
Choose a variety of fruits and vegetables, beans and grains. Soluble fibers have been shown to both lower plasma cholesterol and modulate the rate of glucose absorption.
  • Increase intake of cold water fish
Salmon, mackerel, herring, and halibut are good choices. Also, take essential fatty acid supplements containing EPA and DHA. Among the many other health benefits, they lower cholesterol and triglycerides.
  • Eat breakfast
Serum cholesterol is highest among those who skip breakfast. Cholesterol is required for cortisol production and cortisol is necessary to bring the blood sugar up when meals are skipped.

Pillar 2 - Nutritional Supplementation

The Ivory Tower mentality of our current medical system is creating an environment that promotes disease at the expense of prevention and true health care. As if it's beneath the medical doctor to prescribe vitamins and natural nutrients for the preservation of health and the prevention and treatment of disease, an expensive synthetic drug is prescribed instead because it's "FDA approved." So, they would rather give their patient a chemical that was created in a lab six months ago instead of a vitamin that the body cannot live without, or a nutrient that naturally occurs in the body, or an herb that has been successfully used in natural human medicine for thousands of years. These methods of treatment are often referred to as "alternative." But logic would suggest that you begin treatment (and certainly prevention) with the most conservative, least invasive therapies available, just as the first principle of natural medicine suggests: "First do no harm" (primum non nocere).

Superfood Blends
Cholesterol is much more of an issue when it becomes oxidized. So, we recommend getting a variety of antioxidants to help prevent the oxidation process. Superfood blends are a fantastic way to get a whopping dose of free-radical-quenching antioxidants.

NewGreens™ "Original" is a complete superfood blend with the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) equal to over 10 servings of fruits and vegetables in every scoop. Blended with detox nutrients, enzymes, fiber, and probiotics, this combination is a complete system in one product.

NewGreens™ "Organic" is the Rolls Royce of all the greens drinks on the market. This first-class product is made with the highest quality organic ingredients available on the market. In addition to the superfood ingredients found in the Original, there are a few other high-ORAC ingredients like acai, goji, and pomegranate. New Greens Organic is also 100% vegan and gluten free.

Berry Fusion™ is second to none when it comes to a comprehensive superfruit blend. A combination of the most potent antioxidant berries on the planet fused with a unique adaptogenic herbal blend puts this product in a class of its own. These adaptogenic herbs are known to increase your physical and mental stamina, raise your resistance to stress, and support your immune system.

Coenzyme Q10
CoQ10 is also called ubiquinone, a name that signifies its ubiquitous (widespread) distribution in the human body. CoQ10 is used by the body to transform food into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy on which the body runs.

CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that protects the body from free radicals and helps preserve vitamin E, the major antioxidant of cell membranes and blood cholesterol. As we discussed on Monday, one of the adverse effects of the statin drugs that block the production of cholesterol is interruption of the biosynthesis of coenzyme Q10.

As an antioxidant, CoQ10 can protect proteins, LDL-cholesterol, and mitochondrial DNA from oxidative damage. Because of its function in the production of cellular energy, and as an antioxidant, CoQ10 can aid in the body's response to a host of health problems including heart disease, cancer, aging, neuro-degenerative diseases, and muscular dystrophy.*

Like many nutrients on the market, not all CoQ10 products are created equally. The most bioavailable form of CoQ10 on the market is called Pure Q10. Pure Q10™ is like a pre-digested form of CoQ10 and grants that close to 100% of the applied dose gets absorbed. Compared to "Regular CoQ10" (common delivery forms like powders, dispersions) and other more bioavailable products Pure Q10? has achieved the highest values. Pure Q10? shows an amazing 600% increased absorption in comparison with "Regular CoQ10". Pure Q10™ features a patented VESIsorb® that provides enhanced bioavailability.

Essential Fatty Acids
Essential fatty acids, especially the omega-3 variety, decrease Lp(a), triglycerides, and blood pressure. They have also been shown to increase HDL, reduce arterial wall inflammation, make blood thinner and less likely to form clots. These affects on the body help prevent arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and decrease arrhythmias by soothing heart rate variability. Hundreds of studies indicate omega-3 fatty acids lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

The essential fatty acids from a marine planktonic crustacean species, called krill, is one of our favorite fatty acids to recommend because it is also very high in antioxidants, unlike other healthy oils. In fact, independent lab testing has indicated the NKO™ (Neptune Krill Oil) has 300 times the antioxidant effect of vitamins A & E and 48 times greater than omega-3. We prefer a product called Pure NKO™. The body prefers to get a variety of essential fatty acids, so we suggest interchanging the types of fatty acids you consume.

Multiple Vitamin-Mineral Supplements
Daily-Multi™, this is a broad-spectrum multi that does not contain ?other ingredients.? The product is simply all of the ingredients on the label, inside of a vegetable capsule, that?s it. Even the conventional medical publication, the Journal of the American Medical Association contained two articles in the June 19, 2002 issue devoted to the importance of multivitamin supplementation. The authors of the article say, ?Most people do not consume an optimal amount of all vitamins by diet alone. Pending strong evidence of effectiveness from randomized trials, it appears prudent for all adults to take vitamin supplements.?

NEW! Cholesstrinol PS®
Cholesstrinol PS? is a proprietary formulation of TocoSource® Palm Tocotrienols, PMFsource Citrus Flavonoids, and SterolSource® Plant Sterols. The FDA has concluded that products containing at least 400 mg of free plant sterol consumed twice a day with meals low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. Cholesstrinol PS? taken as directed meets this requirement.*

Adrenal Stress Support
SR-Stamina is a blend of herbal adaptogens and other traditional herbs known to decrease symptoms of fatigue, stress, anxiety, neuralgia, depression, and sore muscles. SR-Stamina also contains ingredients known to increase stamina and enhance physical performance.

What is an adaptogen?
In 1947, Dr. Nikolai Lazaren defined an adaptogen, "as an agent that allows the body to counter adverse physical, chemical, or biological stressors by raising nonspecific resistance toward such stress, thus allowing the organism to 'adapt' to the stressful circumstance." This definition still holds true for today, but now also includes an ability to balance endocrine hormones and the immune system.

Pillar 3 - Physical Activity

To help you develop a successful exercise program; here are seven steps to follow.

Step 1. Recognize the Importance of Physical Exercise
    Step 2. Consult Your Physician
Step 3. Select an Activity You Enjoy
    Step 4. Monitor Exercise Intensity
    Step 5. Do It Often
    Step 6. Make it Fun
    Step 7. Stay Motivated

Pillar 4 - Elevating Consciousness

Consider the 3 Cs to elevate your consciousness.

Concentration
First, focus and concentrate on what level of health you would like to create. For example, ?I intend to lower my cholesterol.?

Consistency
Now, be consistent with the characteristics of the level of health you would like to create. For example, if you intend to lower your cholesterol, consistently follow the recommendations is this article.

Cooperation
Finally, make someone your ?accountability partner? and hold yourself accountable to them. Chances are, he or she also have a health issue that they would like to change so you can hold them accountable to their health intentions.
