Question about Web Surfing

(2009-01-15 09:53:04) 下一個
I'm not a IT person. As far as I can understand, there are 2 ways for a company to control the employee used computers:

The company may not backup all the logs but has the access to the individual computer hence has the access to the websurfing history stored on each computer. (My company just change a default setting on the internet explore web visiting history from uncontrolled to 365 days.)

Some companies keep logs of emplyees data record to a database. But that database needs constantly backup from individual computers, say, on weekly or monthly basis. These companies are not purposely backing up emplyees' websurfing history but all the critical business data/working history on each individual computer, due to the nature of the business(My prior employer does so).

My question is: do many companies have the man power and tech support to do both?
