To me, I don't think my English is at the level to have a complete distinction between oral and writing(formal) English. What I have been using in oral or writing today is mainly from "hunch" or habit, without theoretical backup. However I do agree that as we have more knowlege of the lauange, it's beneficial to distinguish between oral and formal English in terms of its grammer and word usages.
