Leaves

Leaves

My memory leaves me,

when leaves fall from an old tree.

I count the fallen leaves by weight,

and sort the fallen leaves by trait.

Heart, spear, and tear.

Red, blue, and color of sear.

Around the tree I bury

the leaves that are merry.

Then I sleep under the bare tree,

until spring awakes me.
