學一個詞：odds（英語聽力）ZT



今天我們要學的詞是odds。

Odds是可能性的意思。

"The odds are very much in the home team's favor,"
就是說主場球隊勝利的機會很大。

很多人都幻想著中彩票發大財，

可是"What are the odds to win the lottery?"
中彩的機會又有多大呢？

我們還可以說"against the odds," 就是說困難重重。

美國參議院星期一開始討論一項極具爭議的移民議案。

美聯社報道說，即使議案在參議院勉強獲得通過，

"the measure would face long odds in the House,"
意思是這項議案在眾議院也會遇到很大的阻力。
