Learn Three Names: Serpentine, Thistle, and Indian Warrior

Serpentine rock is low in calcium and nitrogen and high in magnesium. When it breaks down due to weathering in the environment, serpentine soil is formed with the same basic characteristics. Native plants had to adapt to these conditions in order to survive and thrive.

Yellow star thistle and Italian thistle are two types of invasive plants and people are working hard to weed them out.

Indian warrior is a native plant with red flowers. It is also used as a tea.
