第一類：這些英文縮寫基本都由幾個單詞的首字母組成。
如UN就是United Nations在短信中；亦或是發音相似的常用詞單代替，數字最被常用來代替某些單詞的發音， 來看看這些例子：
OIC －Oh I see
BRB －Be right back
LOL －Laughing out loud
ASAP －As soon as possible
BTW －By the way
FYI －For your information

第二類：縮寫
被縮寫簡潔後的單詞發音仍舊與原來無差別，如plz為please，b為be，意思仍是一樣的，去掉不必要的部分同時保持意思明確。數字8有時代表eight的音，因此later變成了l8r。數字4也常用於替代for 就象2取代to。看這些SMS（短信常用）的縮寫：
