For example, Apple stock $1000, 1B shares outstanding, marke cap=$1T

But if people want to sell 1B shares, the price will not be $1000. The $1000 price is based on normmaly daily trading volume, which is a small fraction of total shares outstanding.

That is why many times market value is just paper money.
