I just moved to Los Angeles and was caught by the police today.
It was a holiday and the traffic was light.
I was in the left turn lane at the cross of street and found I should turn right instead. There was no car behind me, so I turned right turn signal and crossed two middle lines and went to the right turn lane, and made a right turn.
Then the policy stopped me and said if I was in the left lane, I should stay in the left lane.
I can't believe it. People do that all the time. I was given a citation (22100(a)). 22100 (A) is about you should drive as close to the right curb as possible when making a right turn to a high way. I did switch to the right lane and then made the right turn.
Can I contest the citation? Do I have a chance to win?
22100(A) can be viewed at http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d11/vc22100.htm
thanks in advance,
Qiang
