前段時間寫了一篇《中文也可以美得不寒而栗》貼出之後，聽取“哇”聲一片（新詞匯叫“吐槽“）！部分讀者認為：光是辭藻堆積沒有思想內涵的文字不美。有的讀者則堅稱：樸實的語言才能表達真摯的感情。
不知道是不是我們經曆過了太多政治運動的洗禮，養成了動不動就要內涵，要深度，要感情的慣性？
辭藻，作為語言的單位，是表達思想必不可少的元素。辭藻如果堆積得巧妙，即使沒有思想內涵，文字依然可以很美：
For on no country have the charms of Nature been more prodigally lavished. Her mighty lakes, like oceans liquid silver; her mountains, with their bright aerial tints; her valleys, teeming with wild fertility; her tremendous cataracts , thundering in their solitudes; her boundless plains, waving with spontaneous verdure; her broad deep rivers, rolling in solemn silence to the ocean; her trackless forests, where vegetation puts forth all its magnificence; her skies, kindling with the magic of summer clouds and glorious sunshine.
這種景物描寫，精致，簡練，有一種音韻的律動。雖然我讀不到任何思想的深度或內涵，我還是被它文字之美迷倒了。古代的唐詩宋詞元曲能夠成為千古萬口傳，不正是它們在辭藻上那種“食不厭精，膾不厭細”的追求嗎？
作為老師，我希望我的學生個個都是辭藻堆積的高手，而不是寫作空洞無物的詞窮者。我不認為太過樸實的語言能夠表達多深奧的思想。
何況，我們生活在一個什麽都講求快捷簡便的時代，語言也不例外。我們的辭藻堆積不是太多了，而是太少了。刻意的辭藻堆積，可以營造出一種別致的修辭效果：
It is so painfully, embarrassingly, proudly, honestly, purely real.
（連續五個副詞修飾一個形容詞，如五雷灌頂，咄咄逼人。）
A year after my first son was born, I felt compelled to throw the requisite, big hoo-ha, Mardi Gras-ish, quinceanera-for-tots-type, baby bar mitzvah-style, professionally-catered one-year-old birthday party.
（七個形容詞修飾一個名詞，無論是廣度還是深度都無遠弗屆。）
Whoever said “Half the fun is getting there” never had to take two car seats, a stroller, a box of Huggies, six puzzles, a Game Boy, crayons, coloring books, saltines, juice boxes, two tired toddlers, and a partridge in pear tree on an international flight in coach.
（一口氣連用11個賓語，讓讀者讀得氣喘呼呼，逼真地感受到筆者那種拖兒帶女坐經濟艙去旅行的艱辛。）
再細想一層，腦中能夠有豐富的辭藻庫存隨意把玩堆積的人，思想是不至於淺薄到哪裏去的。 俗話說，“熟讀唐詩三百首，不會作詩也會吟。”
所以，我還是要拚命鼓吹：
誓將辭藻堆積進行到底！
