【五律】芍藥的四季

 

春來枝嫋嫋，默默開千朵。

美極使腰折，花重向地墮。

離離夏日情，烈烈秋時火。

冬雪根綿綿，惺惺連你我。

 

重，平聲 (chóng)，繁複，重疊。

 

Peonies' Four Seasons

 

A painting unrolled. A brush stroked the yard.

Winter went for hibernation, dreams woke up.

Season strode and spring had its gate unbarred.

 

Roots sprouted, a spirit stirred.

Stems shot up, leaves left a mark.

A painting unrolled and a brush stroked the yard.

 

The flower was a verb in blossoming.

Pink and crimson tided up and faded away.

Season strode and summer had its gate unbarred.

 

Many shades of green. Crazy love grew.

Lush lust. The sun was the unsung hero.

A painting unrolled and a brush stroked the yard.

 

Cells stopped splitting. A palette makeover.

Colors were drunk and crisp. Leaves on fire.

Season strode and autumn had its gate unbarred.

 

Return again where frosts glistened and ices were hard.

Roots resist becoming dormant, imagine

a painting unrolls, a brush strokes the yard,

Season strides and winter has its gate unbarred.
