Greg Owen is a Canadian Youtuber from BC.
Currently at his early sixties. He chose to live in a primitive life style. I followed his YouTube channel Owen's Bushcraft.
One EP, he raised some chicks, and built big shelter and enclosure,so they could hide from weather & free run. When time came for harvesting, Greg was getting very emotional, he used .22 caliber rifle to end their lives, death was swift & less painful. He apologized but that's the purpose to raise chickens, they had good lives, had run under sunlight, unlike farmed chickens'd been kept in cage captivities for entire lives.
There was one chick with a crippled leg, could't run properly, just hop, couldn't compete for food, no chicken friend. So Greg called it hop-alone, He fed hopalone from his hands. So he could not do that to hop-alone like other chickens. He just carried it with him. Finally Hopalone died in natural way. He buried Hopalone and held a personal funeral.
This is humanity.
