- Used to say that the best time to do something is right now. Also used to suggest that something should be done now rather than later.
This adage was first recorded in 1562. One compiler of proverbs, John Trusler, amplified it: “No time like the present, a thousand unforeseen circumstances may interrupt you at a future time” (Proverbs Exemplified, 1790).

The reason I chose this "adage" was somehow triggered by the very recent total solar eclipse event. Total solar eclipses are rare and not rare. They are not rare because they do appear once or twice every year somewhere on the planet, but most places on Earth need to wait between 400 and 1,000 years to see a total solar eclipse.
400 years is a long time! Eastern NA people who saw it in person on Monday were very lucky indeed. For us in western Canada, we have to wait until 2044 to have our turn of a total solar eclipse.
2044, that's 20 years away, but still is in our lifetime (hopefully ;-).
Somehow and in some way, this made me feel life is short and our time is limited. We'd better live fully each day and not be afraid, to read and to think, to do things we enjoy and to try something new, to laugh and to cry, to hug life and be hugged or kicked back, as there's no time like the present!
