Can paramedics give patients fentanyl?

Drugs or counterfeit pills obtained on the street could have lethal doses of fentanyl added. Fentanyl, when administered appropriately in the emergency department or paramedics, on the other hand, is actually safe and preferred over similar pain medications. It is fast acting and has less side effects than other opioids.

If patient's urine drug screen shows fentanyl positive, but she/he clearly states never used fentanyl. Then the positive fentanyl could come from paramedics..
