An Emmy-winning comedy series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel , offers a great look at what it is like to be a woman stand-up comedian.
'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' tells the story of Miriam “Midge” Maisel, an energetic and sharp New York housewife who discovers she has a marvelous gift for stand-up comedy and pursues a career in it. Set in 1950s Manhattan, Mrs. Maisel’s life was on track- the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment. She is a cheerleader wife to a man, but her perfect life takes an unexpected turn when her husband suddenly leaves her for another woman. Mrs. Maisel is left with no choice but to renew her life. As she accidentally discovers her previously unknown comedic talent, Mrs. Maisel decides to pursue a career in the male-dominated, stand-up comedy profession. This decision completely changes her life forever.
The comedy series has received critical Hollywood's approval and won the Golden Globe Award in 2017 and the Primetime Emmy Award in 2018. New seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel were supposed to start production in late spring 2020,but were pushed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
