Hi,
I recently purchased a new car from a NH Toyota dealer. I am in MA. The dealer is located one hour away from home. On the day I purchased the car, I reminded the salesman for the second key, and he agreed to give it to me. Since I was in a hurry to go back home to pick up my daughter, and he did not mentioned it again. I drove the new car away without the second key.
A few days later I noticed I did not have second key, I contacted the salesman. He asked me if I want to stop by to pick up the key or he can mail it to me. I wanted to ask him to deliver the key to me in person but then I wanted to be nice, so I said you can mail it to me.
A few days later, I received an express mail from this Toyota dealer. I opened it however it was empty. I immediately text the salesman but he did not respond until 5 days later. He claimed that he put the key in the envelope and therefore it showed .5 lb in the label, and he was suspicious of me or my neighbor took the key. In that call, he admitted that he did not have second key on the day he sold the car to me.
While the salesman did not respond to me, I called up Toyota dealer and one of the person told me the car should come with two keys. I left multiple messages to the salesman and the manager, however they did not respond to me.
After a week, I gave up and wrote a review for the salesman. I also reported this case to BBB.
The manager responded under my review saying I can call them again. I responded after his comments, saying I have been calling them and left messages, they never responded. I asked the manager to tell me who will contact me and when.
Now it is 2 extra weeks passed. Nothing happened. BBB has no response as well. This Toyota dealership is not BBB accredited.
What can I do next? I never had such bad luck buying a new car.
