Everybody is smart, when he/she made a decision (for his/her choice), he/she should select the best choice basd on his/her knowledge. But, what selected is right or not, the time will tell.
Sometimes, someone knows his choice is not the best but he has to do it under particular circumstance. His choice may be bad! However, things keep changing, he would be more successful than what he was originally supposed to select the good choice: 歪打正著. This is special, but Buffet is also a particular one.
