Findings: There is a focal high intensity zone in the L5-S1 posterior annulus without significant disc bulge reflecting a small annular tear. No central or foraminal stenosis.
Otherwise, wertebral body height, alignment and interspacing is well preserved. There is no paraspinal mass. The bone marrow signal is normal. Conus medullaris is normal in position.
Incidental note is made of small perineural cysts involving the sacral nerve roots measuring less than 1 cm.
Impression: Small annular tear or fissure involving the posterior annulus L5-S1 without disc bulge or spinal canal compromise.
