A friend of mine was hit by uninsured car a few years back. He won the case but the other driver never paid anything since he was so poor.
And now my friend totally gave up on collecting the money. It;s just not worth the time.

The taxi driver and the company were not responsible for the accident so you should not be able to get extra money for your loss other than hospital expenses.
