You have nothing to lose if you negotiate with the other parties that you are willing to pay, but really can't afford to pay the full amount. Many doctors/hospitals are willing to give you a good discount, if they know that you are paying out of your own pocket. The medical system in the USA is not designed for people to pay by themselves. Without insurance, 90%+ of the people won't be able to afford their medical bills. Good luck to you!
