一輛載有約50人的旅遊巴8月22日在美國紐約州一條高速公路發生車禍，造成5人死亡。5名遇難者中3名是華人，包括一名來自中國的22歲哥倫比亞大學學生、三名新澤西州（New Jersey）居民和一名印度居民。

《紐約郵報》（New York Post）報道，旅遊巴當時正從尼亞加拉瀑布（Niagara Falls）返回紐約市，途中車輛失去控製衝入隔離帶，司機試圖調整方向結果導致巴士翻車。據紐約州警初步調查報告指出，事故原因或為司機駕駛時分心導致。

當局指，3名華裔遇難者分別為22歲、來自北京的Xie Hongzhuo、新澤西州澤西市（Jersey City）55歲的Zhang Xiaolan，以及同樣來自該市、56歲的Jian Mingli。

美國國家運輸安全委員會（NTSB）委員Thomas Chapman在8月23日的新聞發布會上表示，“汽車先是左轉進入中間隔離帶，然後又右轉回到行車道，最終從高速公路右側翻滾而出。”

美國國家運輸安全委員會的調查人員正在調查駕駛員的駕駛表現、可能存在的機械故障、公路工程和其他因素。
