北京時間15日下午15點左右，一架載有168人的伊朗裏海航空公司班機在起飛16分鍾後墜毀。目前經證實，機上所有人員已全部遇難。
據法新社報道，目擊者稱，失事飛機在墜入伊朗加茲溫省的一處農田前，已經著火。有人稱看到飛機墜毀前已打開，這可能顯示飛機曾試圖迫降。另外，機身下部燃著火。
亞美尼亞民航組織發言人以私人名義表示，飛機的“一個引擎著火，飛行員曾打算迫降”。
當地電視台的畫麵顯示，現場火勢半徑一度達500米，土地都被烤焦。四處散落著殘骸、衣物。法新社記者稱，空氣著彌漫著難聞的煙霧味道，警方努力阻止村民靠近。
據報道，伊朗總統內賈德已要求交通部長調查此次空難。
法新社最新報道稱，機上的153名乘客中有147名伊朗人、4名亞美尼亞人和2名格魯吉亞人。伊朗首都德黑蘭霍梅尼機場工作人員說，墜毀客機上沒有中國乘客。
